Now that you think about it, was the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase a waste of talent and time?

John Cena really didn't need to win it. Nobody in there needed it. Maybe Miz, but I think it was still not ready for Miz. Look at how well that briefcase made Ziggler look to this day, even though he hasn't even ATTEMPTED to cash it in in months! Not to mention, the stipulation was just wrong to do, why the...

John Cena didn't need to win it but it did actually serve a purpose for storyline progression so I'm not going to pick apart the whole RAW Money in the Bank Match, too much.

I completely understand what you're saying about how the briefcase has been rising Dolph Ziggler through the ranks and I couldn't be happier about it, myself. I would have liked for the RAW Money in the Bank briefcase to have gotten to do the same thing to another talent. Initially I was very disappointed when I first learned that the RAW MiTB Match was going to only have four; former Champion participants.. especially since the MiTB made stars in the WWE by giving people like Edge, CM Punk and The Miz a chance to run with the Championship.

I was very upset when John Cena won the match because I didn't see any point in it; but once all was said and done I got the point. Cena won the MiTB to have the inevitable first loss of the MiTB cash in occur and not negatively effect the guy who lost in the process (Cena can afford to lose the cash in) we finally got to see someone set the time and the place for the cash in actually happen and instead of them just handing Cena another shot at Punk; he actually earned one. That's all nice but the real reason Cena won was to get that main event match with Punk on RAW 1000; and ultimately turn Punk heel.

That's it, the point mainly was to get Punk's heel turn started and in that match with Cena losing the cash in because of Big Show and then Punk getting the GTS on The Rock it set up for CM Punk's heel turn (which was desperately needed) and it has set up for the Royal Rumble; Rock vs. Punk for the WWE Championship..

I'm sure they ****** that match up completely anyway. The complete shock on Cena's face when he had the briefcase, a waste of time cash in attempt just adds to that stipulation. Its rumoured that Jericho was meant to be the winner because fans were eating up the CM punk feud. Might be the reason Jericho left because of Cena ******* up that match. No one likes Cena backstage, he's a complete dick. He tried getting Orton fired on more than one occasion. Why would you try and get an investment as valuable as Orton fired? Yer Orton might have violated some rules but he's a shirt seller at the end of the day. Im just glad they're giving Cena the most ridiculous storyline with aj, he deserves it to be honest. He's been fed from the golden spoon for too long. Now Its time to feed RYBACK!

I don't think John Cena needed to win it....I don't mind former "world champions" being involved in the match, & I don't mind a former "world champion" winning it, on occasions, but MITB is like the Royal Rumble, anybody can ultimately win it, without being given a "proper" push, ahead of time. That's why I like the match concept, because it gave under-used mid-cards the chance to rise to fame. With that being said, did John Cena need MITB to become legitimate, absolutely not.John Cena has already been established as a main event caliber competitor, & he didn't need MITB to get a shot at glory. But that's how WWE booked it, unfortunately.

I'm not going to piggyback off of what everyone said but AJDaddyCool's answer has to be the stupidest f*cking crap I've ever read in my life.

1. There was a point to his loss. It was for him to secure a rematch at Summerslam and further the storyline.
2. So it was "rumored" that Jericho was supposed to win? Sure. Rumors are just that; rumors. Things that aren't true. Jericho's plan was to put over Ziggler and leave at Summerslam. That's it.
3. Jericho left because he has a BAND, not because Cena won. He's left multiple times.

I think they needed to keep the concept alive, but they didn't want to burn any Rising Talent by giving them the First Failure

I think Going into MitB they knew that they were only going to Elevate One person this year...

but they were not ready to establish the Precedent of only 1 MitB match at the PPV (as soon as they do that the calls of rebranding the PPV and putting MitB back at Mania get louder) so they give one to Cena and have him 'cheated' out of his Victory... thus burning it off

think about it: there were no real mid-card Faces to elevate save for maybe Kofi or R Truth... and if they gave it to one of them there are certain unfortunate implications if they had Lost in their attempt... not to mention in losing they would be forever (or until teh writers forget) remembered as the first guy to lose his MitB Cash in

not to mention with everyone assuming Cena is a Belt Hog the shock of him losing is greater

Black Winter Night Sky

It was a complete waste of time, it ruined the reputation of the MITB & how everyone who won it & cashed it in all became World Champion, except Cena. You're right, he didn't need it at all, even Big Show could've won it to become World Champion sooner

John

I think they made Cena win it and cash in early because they dont want CM Punk to lose the tittle yet

Leighton

I thought it was a waste of time.I wanted Jericho to win it since he came up with the idea.
