Internet banking is generally safe in any major country and using major banks. There are occasional accidents, as anywhere, but the EU and UK rules are very tight, they become liable for any losses due to any error or oversight causing a security breach. In other words, they lose your money, they gotta replace it. They are also responsible for changing card, pin and other numbers for you if these become compromised by their system.

Internet banking itself is safe. However, after you perform any transactions you should erase your history. Recently hackers have developed techniques to surf through your history files. deleted or not to pilfer passwords and banking information. So erase the data after each transaction should keep you safe. You may want to invest in a secure delete tool such as privacy software that will encrypt and permanently delete your information.
