The bank don't press charges -- as long as the overdraft fees are paid..

Debt is a civil matter so you can't go to jail ( in most cases)

The banks have debt collectors that to recover the money ( although for 5000 overdraft fees they will probably write it off).

Also it is possible that it will affect you parents credit rating..

They sure can. What you've done is Federal fraud and identity theft and you committed all this across State lines. It's out of her hands at this point.

You may have convinced you mom not to file a report. For now.

But you won't be so lucky with the bank.

The bank will agree to charge you if your mother does not repay the money immediately. If she doesn't tell them it was you, they will charge her. Since it has already gone on 6 months, odds are they won't work out a payment plan.

Your mother isn't doing you any favors by covering for you. You would have been arrested long ago if you were mine. I really can't think of much that is worse than stealing from your mother and putting her in risk of incarceration.

Why don't you grow a pair, accept the consequences of your actions, and stop manipulating your mother to cover for you? Go down to the police station right now and turn yourself in.

What a genius!!

You could get charged with theft and fraud

Perhaps arrange some repayment plan with your mum and the bank? And learn from this! Don't be so bloody stupid!
