The bank can press charges, but they would probably rather have their money back. Your mother will have to pay it and you will have to pay her back the entire $5500. You will have to get a job and give her every penny of your earnings. What you did is very serious, and you should definitely be scared, because if you don't repay her, she can change her mind and press charges at any time. You can't take away the suffering you have caused her, though, for knowing that her son is a thief.

Let me try again:
1. Identify theft, fraud and conversion are all crimes, and they will charge you with at least the first two.
2. individuals do not press charges. The state or commonwealth does. If the bank makes a report (which they have a fiduciary duty to do) the DA will bring the charges.
3. If you convinced your mother to lie for you and not tell the bank it was you doing this, you are going to hell for sure.
4. I would be surprised if the bank will willing to work out payment arrangements after 6 months.
5. Grow a pair, stop manipulating your mother and go solve this problem. If you get jail time, so be it. What did you really think would happen? No one would notice?
6. Your mom is in dire need of parenting classes. Hopefully someone can convince her that the best thing for you to do is to man up. I suspect a long pattern of your mother bailing you out of trouble so you don't think you have to follow the rules.

If your mom can pay the debt and does not press charges, you will stay out of jail, you little thief.
If she can not pay the debt she can be bankrupted. If she refuses to accept the charges you will be charged with fraud. What happened to your brain? What were you thinking?
Um one never use a parents credit card...lol. If your going to secretly use a card try ones like paypal. Um most likely since the card is in your moms name and what you bought was in her name, although you purchased the items your mom will be responsible. its her card. and everything was bought in her name. she may be in some serious debt with them. now if the bank knows you did it im not sure what they would do. its possible it could affect your future credit card plans. like the yes plan average teenagers are put on or when you get your 1st card. i doubt it but you never know.
No its not a crime since you took it from your mother and your still under her care and all. The only thing you have to fear in this situation would be your mothers wrath. She shouldn't be so careless with a debit card especially with kids around who are actual foolish enough to take it and use it.
You're a minor. The bank can't sue you even if they wanted to. They can only sue your mother for your actions. They are going to make your mother pay, and then you're going to have to pay your mother.
