Will the oil spill get so bad it will affect the Outer Banks of North Carolina?

I live at the Outer banks and i am just kinda worried it will get so bad it will reach NC and SC.

yes it most definitely WILL hit North Carolina. MODIS imagery clearly shows the spill has already been pulled into the loop current, which will take it past the straits of Florida to the Gulf Stream (goodbye Keys and coral reefs) then on up to NC on its way across the Atlantic to northern europe and the arctic -- and then back around. i have no idea what scientific basis those that have commented to the contrary rest their fairy tales on, (it appears they are grossly underestimating the size and scope based on [provenly] bogus claims made by BP's legal department) but you can take this to the bank. and according to the USF marine sciences department, it will likely be there by the fourth of July -- if not sooner.
and since you posted the query to this group, i'll go ahead and throw in a quote from the ancient Hopi prophecy for ya: "This is the Seventh Sign... You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it."
...pray!

It's rather unlikely. Even if the oil is pulled through the eastern part of the loop current and around the southern tip of Florida, the gulf stream is more likely to push it farther out to the ocean, rather than keeping it confined to the shore.

Nope. The reason is the ocean currents.

I would hope not, however it wouldn't surprise me that much if it did.

(Why is this in R&S again?)
