It depends on what you have and how outdated it is. If you're talking about sometihng like Italian lira or German marks that are no longer used, the only place to exchange it is at the central bank in those countries. As someone else suggested, you might find a collector that's interested, but don't expect to get much in return unless you have something in good condition and unusual.
You might consider donating this to airline charities. They have the facilities to exchange the money at the central banks in various countries and may collect enough of a given currency to make it worthwhile. Other than that, you have a nice souvenir of your trip.
