Hi there, my sister in law works for a large national bank and they cash them by just walking in with a current ID. She said most banks will cash a tax refund check with a ID and without having an account with the bank. Good luck and I hope that this helps.
Actually pretty much any Federal Bank will cash the check, you just need proper I.D. not an account. But having an account makes things much easier.
Open an account at any bank and deposit your check there.
