Joints be joints,..!?!! Be the Account a Checkingt or Savings,..

The safe way be: two signers,..both be on the Account. your signature and the girl's,..If it be
Checking,..She could have A check book and you have one,.. Only a lone ( 1 sig.) be needed
for a transaction this be good,..As only one need to sign,..

Savings Accounts be similar but it be difficult to get doplicate Passbooks,..yet,.maybe only one need sign to complete a transaction,..The one or lone name on the Accounts as signer could
stop,..or,..block normal transactions,..

Chase, CitiBank, and HSBC all operate in the US and Thailand. By Thailand, I mean Bangkok pretty much. I don't remember seeing a US bank branch in Chiang Mai, but I was only there for a few days. Chiang Mai and even Pattaya must be considered a little out of the the way as western banks are few.
The way my girlfriend and I worked it out was to open a joint account here with Wells Fargo and give her the debit / credit card. We paid the currency conversion fee from USD to Baht which was not much. She had access to online banking and could purchase / withdraw without trouble in Thailand and Singapore. She does her father's banking online the same way. Social Security checks deposited stateside, ATM cash in Thailand. It would be the same for any big US bank I would guess.
If you are considering getting a marriage visa to stay in the land o' smiles, one of the requirements is a Thai bank account. You could bank online the same way. I had a business account at Wells, so the cost of wire transfers from my stateside account to my Thai account was less. Shop the banks and pick the best service for transfers and currency conversion. Good luck.
