Banks in most cases will not sell directly to you. They only want to go through an Agent. So dial away and write and walk in, but they usually only sell through an agent.
And if you do find one that will you can well expect to pay a pretty penny. Banks seem to think that the buying public are fools who will pay top dollar for a fixer. That's one reason they never sell direct, that can't seem to get it done without an Agent to beat them down on the price.
