I have check no. 016990 from M & T Bank in Buffalo, Is it any good?

M&T bank is based in Buffalo, so if you're questioning the authenticity of the bank, then there's your answer.

First off, how did you get the check? Did someone from some third world county promise you part of the funds if you cashed the check for them and then sent the rest of the money to them?

If that's the case then I guarantee you that the check is fraudulent. Don't even try to cash it. Contact the F.B.I. and tell them about it.

If the check is legitimate for work you've done or is suppose to be a refund for something, then you contact the bank that issued the check. You then give them all of the account information and simply ask if there's funds enough for the check to clear. They will say 'yes' or 'no'. If the account was closed or if there's not enough funds for cashing the check the bank will tell you.

If there's fraud associated with the account the bank might want to get in touch with you later to build a case.

Go online and search for the phone number for M&T Bank. And call a nearby branch.

But just by your question I'm lead to believe that there's something stinky about your check.
