Banks in Boring, OR

I was a teller in the Philadelphia area from 1991-1993, and I'm still in banking.

I enjoyed being a teller. It's a great place to learn about banking and so many banks promote from within, you can build yourself a nice career. I have.

I liked the "regulars" - the people that came in every day because they owned their own business, etc...you get to know them personally and after a while it's like meeting a friend each day.

However, the hours were long. I worked many Fridays from 8 AM to 7 PM and that was tough when most of the world was done at 5.

The pay was poor, but I knew I had to pay my dues to advance. After 2 years I moved into training tellers and up the corporate ladder from there.

There is a security aspect to the job, too. Fortunately, I was never robbed but I had my share of check fraud situations.

Some people were amazingly rude, but you get that in any service job.

I miss being a teller. It was not easy and I enjoyed it. I say go for it.
