because I dont know what part of the Bible said the messiah should be born I think it's micah 5:2.. for example jesus was identified as the messiah because he was born in bethlehem.. so the jewish messiah is expected to be born in bethlehem in Judaea?

Answer (5):

Mark S, JPAA

This verse refers to the Messiah, a descendant of David. Since David came from Bethlehem, Micah's prophecy speaks of Bethlehem as the Messiah's place of origin. Actually, the text does not necessarily mean the Messiah will be born in that town, but that his family originates from there. From the ancient family of the house of David will come forth the Messiah, whose eventual existence was known to God from the beginning of time.

Jesus is never mentioned by name in the old testament; not even once. He was not identified as the messiah by his fellow Jews for the simple reason that the signs and events that we believe will accompany the real messiah, did not occur; world peace, for example.

There is no place specified for the birth of mashiach. Where he is born is immaterial- the important factor is that he is form the House of David as a descendant from his NATURAL father (their is no such thing as adoption in Jewish law thus invalidating any notion of a divine father), which means that his family lands are in the region of GBethlehem (and when mashiach comes, the correct land will be given to the dewscendants of those who were granted it when the Jews entered Israel after leaving Egypt.)

Jesus is the Messiah, there are no others.
