While there are some banks with headquarters in Raleigh/Durham, it's not really the banking center that Charlotte is.
The Triangle region afterall, is more science and technology oriented as I'd hope you know by now. Businessmen with MBAs aren't the big thing here. A BS or MS in some type of science or engineering field would get you further in this region.
There are some corporate jobs, of course...even some in banks like RBC or Capital Bank. But they're more likely in other businesses like Progress Energy or one of the big pharmaceutical, software or biotech companies in RTP.
Heck, I'd say there are even more government jobs (state capital of course) than corporate & business jobs here.
