Your mother accepted the summons for you. She should not have accepted it since you no longer lived there. Even worse,, she waited to forward it to you. You are out of luck as this counts as a legal service.

The creditor has waited 5 years to collect on this judgment and went to the trouble to bring the judgment to another state. They can take your bank accounts and garnish you wages ... right up to the amount of the judgment,, plus all the interest that has accrued in the past 5 years.

Yes, any amount up to the judgement amount is fair game.
Please clarify: Were you ever served a summons for this debt? Even if you are guilty of defaulting on a debt, you do have the right to be properly notified of any court hearings regarding a debt....Debt collection attorneys can't just dump a summons in the trash and claim you were properly served in order to get a default judgement against you.
- Of course if you were served a summons and you did not bother to show up, then a default judgement was entered and you cannot challenge this.

the bank must give you a copy of the court order allowing this to occur then verify with the court this even happened, It is possible but just as possible they faked the paper work. Garnishments must be court ordered and no a court order often allows cleaning out accounts and garnishment of wages.
