I would like to open a bank account JUST to use for online transactions, for example use it for ebay etc, so its seperate from the account my savings are in. I am with Alliance and Leicester, and very happy with it.
Always have few 100's in it and never a problem.

For the security, most of the banks now offer you some security and protection, but you may have to pay for it.

It's worth it, as recently someone cloned my cedit card, and tried to withdraw some money in China (never been there). Thanks to that security, my credit card company called me to ask me, and because it wasn't me, I am no liable for anything. That was a releive.

Same for overdraft, you can opt for not have any.

Why not just use a paypal account, it does what you are looking for, I have not once had a problem in 5 years, and you can transfer money in as and when you need it

Halifax is good and they have a security thing you can put on when buying online
