Today on CNBC Sanford I. "Sandy" Weill, former president of Citibank, said the US government should break up the big banks. That's kind of like Jerry Seinfeld saying there should be no more prime time sitcoms.
Breaking up the banks might not solve the problem because even if we make them small, many may still be so interconnected that if one goes down many go down. Plus, there are the international banks which are huge.
It's not the "big" part that is the big problem. It's the "fail" part. The challenge is how to prevent any of them from failing -- at least not in a way that hurts us.

Romney is talking about deregulating wallstreet...and many Democrats supported a complete segregation of investment banks and consumer banking as part of the Dodd Frank reforms.
And congress recently shot down funding that would have gone towards setting up real time electronic monitoring to insure that banking funds remained segregated at all times during a trading session.
How is Romney going to be able to get by congress and accomplish the task...what special powers does he have that Obama and other Democrats do not?
I don`t share your reasoning but yes I do believe the ones with the choker hold on the worlds economies
