Why should the Bank of England bail them out?

If they want to split, then do so by all means but accept fiscal responsibility for doing so ?

Banks in Independence, OH

If my memory serves me well it was the Royal Bank of SCOTLAND that failed oh and Halifax Bank of SCOTLAND that failed and the take over was brokered by Gordon Brown (a Scot).
Maybe Scotland is beginning to realise that they are not so financially astute as they think they are.
There is no way that an independent Scotland should be bailed out by English banks.
Independence is independence - surely Scottish pride wouldn't allow this to happen?

Chosen Man

Scotland want a Sterling version of the Euro, where Govts can be profligate and then claim money to bail them out of their mess. It would be a joke to think that after the Euro debacle anybody would put this forward seriously, but we are talking about the fishy pair, Salmond and Sturgeon, so it must be tragic!

It should be spelt out, in big block capitals if necessary, that Scotland is welcome to its independence if that is what they want, but they have Independence with all its risks as well as its advantages.

They should be taught a bit of their own history. The reason that The Act of Union was passed in the 1700s was because Scotland, both State and people, was bankrupted by the Darien Affair, and the rest of Great Britain had to bail them out.

It won't happen again.

Proud Infidel

Are they having a laugh independence should mean just that as for bankers in general I cannot understand why failure is rewarded, think of Fred the shred or the latest three jokers, they should receive a basic pension as their incompetence is criminal.

B.B.

They shouldn't! If they want to be independent then by all means let them. Their motto seems to be "What's yours is mine and what's mine is my own." They shouldn't expect the rest of the UK to deal with their mess if the sh*t hits the fan.

corny, but still never was a cornflake girl

I think one or two nationalists are beginning to realise that there are some good points to being in the UK. They can't cherry pick, it is in or out, the choice is theirs
