Why big money to big banks, rather than small help to homeowners so bank's assets are no longer "toxic"?

Pardon my obvious stupidity, because the most brilliant minds so far (especially in the last administration and current congress) obviously saw no merit in this... But, would it kill the treasury, the government or the fat cats in fat banks to help the truly struggling homeowners pay the mortgages by any...

Your analogy is pretty good. We've been looted on an unimaginable scale. To understand how/why needs no further looking than at the bigbusiness -political cronyism at the highest levels. Also at the complete lack of understanding of what constitutes a national economy by the highest levels in the congress. There are better understandings of economics in the general population than in the political sector. When I heard country economics 101 on the farm it was like a light flashing. The complete lesson was "Everything we got comes out of ground." Does your congressman consider that as a starting point to understanding and creating an economic system. Not likely.
