I need to get from Philadelphia to Red Bank NJ or at least to a station no more than 30min from there. The only way I'm finding says its a 3hr ride. Is there any faster way to get to that area??? (please do not tell me amtrak, i cant afford that, the buss/subways are fine though)

Because of the distance between Philadelphia and Red Bank you can't get there much faster by any public transportation method.

From 30th St (or Suburban, or Market East stations) in Philadelphia, take the SEPTA Trenton line (Regional Rail) to Trenton, NJ. At Trenton, take a NJ Transit N.E. Corridor train (NY-bound) to Rahway. At Rahway, go downstairs and come up on the oppiste platform. There wait for a Long Branch or Bayhead bound (North Jersey Coast line) train and take that to Red Bank.

Trip times:

SEPTA to Trenton: about 1 hour
NJT Trenton to Rahway: about 50 minutes
NJT Rahway to Red Bank: about 40 minutes

Total travel time (this doesn't include waiting time): about 2 hours 30 minutes. With waiting time probably close to 3 hours.

The fare on SEPTA Trenton line from 30th St is $8.75
The fare on NJ Transit (purchase the ticket for Red Bank at Trenton) is $9.00

Remember to buy your tickets for the train(s) BEFORE boarding the train(s). Onboard purchases are higher.

Timetable: SEPTA Trenton line: http://septa.org/schedules/rail/pdf/...

NJ Transit timetables:
N.E. Corridor line: http://njtransit.com/pdf/rail/r0070.... (Trenton to Rahway)
North Jersey Coast Line:http://njtransit.com/pdf/rail/r0080.... (Rahway to Red Bank)

I would choose rail over bus as it is more direct and has less station stops (and isn't affected by street traffic as a bus would). And as you can see by the other answer - the bus can take 5 hours.

BTW - Amtrak would not help you much as it doesn't go anywhere near Red Bank (and doesn't stop at Rahway). It does stop at Trenton but SEPTA does that for a lot less money.

if you dont use amtrak you trup would 5 hours instead 3 hours
