Hello, I'll be going to the U.S. for 6 months. What is the biggest bank in America? Which one should I use? Which one has the most number of ATM's and banking centers?

The biggest bank in the U.S. Is Citigroup (Citibank), followed by Bank Of America and then JP Morgan Chase (Chase)

If you will be in NYC, the bank with the most branches and ATMs is Chase.

My advice is to find the best deal you can (the lowest fees and/or highest interest rates) at any bank. Often you may find a smaller local bank will give a better deal than one of the biggest ones.

In the USA you can use any bank's ATM so long as it has the appropriate logo (Cirrus/Mastercard of Plus/Visa). There may be a fee (usually $2 - $3) for using a "foreign" ATM, though. Especially in the Midwest many convenience stores offer "free" ATMs that will accept any card without any fee at all. You can also usually get money without a fee if you use your bank card as a debit card and ask for "cash back" from the store. Again, it doesn't matter what bank you use.

First no bank has branches in more than 40 states. In many parts of the country, you may only find 1 of the Big 4 Banks. And in others, you won't find any.

The Big 4 Banks are Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, and Wells Fargo/Wachovia. Bank of America has the most ATMS and branches, with over 6100 branches and 18,700 ATMs nationwide.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 3 (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp's U.S. Trust private banking unit is getting a more public face, just a year after some analysts speculated the unit would be spun off in the wake of the Merrill Lynch buyout.
BofA's wealth management marketing chief told Reuters the Charlotte, North Carolina-based will spend up to $10 million marketing a unit that targets ultra-wealthy customers across the country and manages $79 billion in assets.
"We're in the papers everyday as an industry," said Claire Huang, head of marketing for Bank of America's global wealth management division. "We're trying to get out of the negativity and go on the offensive, instead of playing defense with clients."

Depends on where your going to be in the US. No single bank is everywhere.
