What is the best and cheapest way to get from First Midwest Bank Amphitheater to the Chicago Greyhound Station?

Share |

My plans to use Rock and Bus and a different party bus for after the Maroon 5 concert on August 25th have both failed and I am trying to get reliable, quick, and hopefully affordable and good quality transportation from the event back to the Greyhound station for me and one other person, probably at 11:00pm after...

Banks in West Harrison, IN

The Amphitheater is very poorly served by public transportation.
When you ask how to get there, everyone says to take the Metra Rock Island train because it has a station called "Tinley Park." The fact of the matter is that the Flossmoor station on the Metra Electric District line is just about the same distance away from the Amphitheater.

The last train on the Rock Island Line on Sunday nights is 8:51 which is way too early. The last train from the Flossmoor station on Sunday is at 12:02 am. Still it's an awfully long walk especially at night. The Flossmoor station is east of the Amphitheater on Flossmoor Road.

Call Tinley Park taxi (or other taxi or limo services) and see if you can reserve a taxi.

There are a lot of cabs that prowl the area. Please be aware that Tinley Park is rather unique in that it does not regulate taxi services or rates. It's not unheard of for some driver to demand $150 for a short hop to one of the Tinley Park hotels. Agree on a rate before getting into the cab.

Take the Metra Electric train to the Van Buren street station. Go west on Jackson or Van Buren to Jefferson, go south to Harrison. The Greyhound station is at Harrison and Jefferson. At that time of night, I would suggest hailing a cab rather than trying to walk it, or if you refuse to take a cab, the 60 Blue Island bus runs from State/Washington at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour all night. If you want to get to State/Washington, get off at the Millennium station and walk a couple of blocks west to State and a couple of blocks south to Washington.

$100 would be well worth it. Otherwise you'll be walking from the venue to the train station which is 2 miles away and a long train ride into the city. It would be hard to time on a Sunday. Just be sure to have a guaranteed ride lined up.
