Yes, you can cancel. Just make sure you pay whatever you owe them, first.

The reason I say that is someday in the future you will be applying for a credit card or a bank loan. When they do a credit check and you haven't paid Verizon, it will come up on your history and you could be denied because of that. It is not worth it, so just pay them and switch to another company.

Think of this situation this way, is it the banks fault that Verizon took more money than they should of? NO, there for the bank is not responsible to refund the fees, now Verizon should be refunding the fees for you. Have you contacted them? Don't get mad at the bank they did nothing wrong. Also if Verizon won't help you and they REALLY did take the money when they were not suppose to than Dispute this transaction with the bank. They will help you get the money back, but if you do owe Verizon the money I would suggest leaving it alone. You can't close the account until you bring the account to a positive balance, and if you don't you will be reported to CHex systems and will not be able to open accounts anywhere else and it will be send to collections.
