The EU wanted to break down economies so they could "save" them, and make nations dependent on the EU and its "financial powers", which is just them giving YOUR COUNTRY'S MONEY back when they please the Overlords in Brussels.

Yes but then have a guess who the foot soldiers of the banks are. Quite simple really. Our own politicians who put themselves and their representation before the population. As long as they are wealthy and can steal our money at will through unfair taxation and deprivation they will continue to do so. They get into debt and we pay the bill. Not always with our money but sometimes with our lives as well. While we have the politicians of the ilk of the present, it will never change. The electorate and people as a whole need to grow some b@lls.
Eventually the banks will politically seize all they can. Oh wait, that happened when the bailout occurred. They were testing us to see how we'd react to the hijacking of public funds. We all didn't do much. Give it another 10 years or so, they will create another sham, then repeat, but that time it will be a little bit worse... such is the case when you set precedent on negative liberty. Yes, people should consider their personal financial situations in isolation from the madness of Main Street and Wall Street. People who sacrifice, save and work hard will be successful in any economy.
