Got to be more to this story. How is the bank out to get you?

All banks tend to operate on the same system. So if you're having problems at one bank, you'll probably run into the same problem at another bank.

People who rack up overdraft fees seem to be the ones who feel injured by the bank. Just so you know, all banks process the largest amounts first. The theory is that larger checks are probably more important than small ones. You wouldn't want your house payment to bounce over a $10 check.

what do you mean the bank is out to get you? If you bounced checks and owe them money not paying back. You might be on the Chech System for 7 years after they report you, and other banks will not let you open accounts. So work out the situation with your bank first before you switch.

Go with a reputable branch of a large National Bank. And if you're open for some additional advice, take some money and open an account at your new bank first, then simply tell your current bank to transfer all your assets to the new account. Banks are happier transferring money between banks than handing a check for liquidated accounts to a customer. :)

I find it hard to believe that a bank has a vendetta and is 'out to get you." They are not the mafia - chances are you are not doing your part by balancing your check books, putting in your ATM withdrawals, etc. You are ultimately responsible for your banking. They have laws and guidelines (Federal ones) they have to abide by - you have a moral and ethical responsibility to balance your checkbook and live below your means.
