Stolen bank account?

my father opened a bank account a few months ago at astoria bank and he hasn't activated his debit card yet.But on 27 th january someone used his bank account and stole his money by paypal.Now what can he do?his tax file account number is the account that has been stolen.What can he do now?Please help

Call his bank and contact Paypal and report the problem. They both have fraud departments.

For someone to steal such details, the computer must be hacked. They usually send an email with a file attachment and then when you click on the file and it doesn't open, you think nothing has happened and it was just a faulty file, but you have actually just unleashed a trojan virus so the scammer can see what you are doing, and then is able to steal login details and can even see what you are typing. It was done to me a few years ago, and it only didn't work because I didn't have the funds that they attempted to steal. Usually the scammers are in other countries, and their police will not co operate with your police. I suggest he disconnects the computer and has it looked at.
