Should Burkhas and Niqabs be banned in public? Bank in PA robbed by man in Burkha and Niqab?

This is just another prime example of why people should not be allowed to cover ones face in public. No niqabs, no bike helmets with visors down, nothing. No one should be allowed to hide his identity while about in...

This manner of dress is not a religious statement.
It is a Political one.
It is a political Uniform, and as such, should be banned.
All that's missing is the swastika, and the lightning flashes.

The DC law seems like a good one to me - I don't see why people should be allowed to cover their faces in public. As has been said; it's not religious, it's political.

A society that wishes to make its women invisible because its men are too weak to resist them is a pathetic and backward society.

Of course such antiquated and ridiculous costuming should be banned. This is America, dammit! Not some backward Muslim country! (Except, of course, on Halloween when it could be a really scary costume.)

Considering this guy did a major illegal action, what makes you think banning niqaab and burqa would prevent him from wearing it anyway? It's ridiculous. I'm an American citizen, born and raised. I have a freedom of not only religion, but also expression. So whether I wear niqaab for religious reasons OR political, it's my right. When I'm outside and pollution is high, niqaab helps my asthma. When it's cold out, it keeps me warm. When it's sunny outside, which causes me to blister incredibly easy in a very short period of time, it allows me to go outside instead of having to live inside my one-room apartment with the blinds down all the time. And I do NOTHING illegal.

"With all they've done to us"... With all MUSLIMS are doing? You mean retalliating because the US and other Western countries are invading their lands and killing the citizens with drones and missiles? How about this government quit its sense of entitlement problem in thinking that America belongs to America and foreign soils that have oil and mineral deposits it wants ALSO belong to America? THAT'S the problem. You corner a person long enough and eventually they'll lash out.

And "Calling the authorities to report a suspicious acting masked person" is NOT confronting them person-to-person. That's being a coward. That's what a little kid does. "Mommy, I'm incapable of telling someone I don't like them by myself so can I convince you to go harass them even though they did nothing wrong?" Coward. 100% You see me out in niqaab, then if you don't like it you need to grow a set and come and tell ME to my face. Not the authorities, YOU.

Definitely.
Human beings are social animals -,operating, surviving BEST in groups - within which facial expressions are critically important.

It's ludicrous and tantamount to obscene - that a minority of muslim fanatics should argue on the grounds of 'religious freedom' - in a civilised (western) society - that their women folk should be allowed to swan about in public - disguised like Dick Turpin or some other footpad.

The Qur'an only demands 'modesty' - NOT total disguise - and a ban should be imposed asap - whatever the towel-heads try to insist or impose on other societies.

I think business and retail outlets should have a legal right to refuse entry to a building of someone whose face is not visible due to deliberate masking.

But I don't think it should become illegal for a man or woman to walk down a street wearing a garment that covers the face. That is his/her legal right and so it should remain.
