I need my passport and/or birth certificate because my father's side of the family just invited me on a last minute cruise. However, my mom locked both of those items in her safety deposit box in Bank of America. We called and spoke to the supervisor seeing if they can open the box. They state that there is no...

Even the bank manager will not be able to help.

In many cases, vault doors are on timers that make it impossible for anyone to open them before a preset time. This is a major problem is someone gets locked inside; they may need to drill holes so that air can get in and the person does not suffocate.

Even if the lock is not on a timer, no one person can open it alone. To ensure that no bank employee goes in to the bank on the weekend and steals, at least two different employees are needed, none of whom normally works between 6 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. To get the vault open, they would two employees with the keys or combinations to go into work on Saturday or on Sunday, and to pay each employee twice their regular pay rate.

They could force the vault doors open with explosives, but would only consider this if a judge ordered it or if it was the only way to save a life, because the explosion would do thousands, and perhaps millions, of dollars in damage to the bank and to the contents of the other safety deposit boxes.

There is no way that you can get into the safe deposit box even if you call the bank manager. The fact of the matter is that the vault where the safety deposit boxes are have a timer that will not allow the manager to open it until a specific time and it is always during bank hours. So I am sorry to say that you are out of luck.

No you cannot. Why would a bank pay an employee to open for you. Guess you are not going on that cruise.
