In Tx a credit card co got a judgement against me can they take money out of my bank acct?

I was told if another persons name is on the acct they can not touch it Is this true?

No it is not true as long as they have a judgment it is legal for them to attach bank accounts as long as your name is on it and file liens on any property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

They can not garnish wages in Texas so you don't have to worry about that.

Texas in an interesting state. It's extremely difficult to collect on judgments unless you know how to do it.

They can not garnish wages or social security at all. And if this is the main source of money in your bank account, they can't touch it. But they can place a freeze on your account, forcing you to go through the long process of proving the money is exempt from seizure.

Or........try this. Change your joint account by adding "held by the entireties" to it. Read the link below for more on this.....check with your bank for specific instructions.

move your money to diff. account . will that help? but right now take all your$ out of banks..If they take $ and you write checks or have auto pay acct.. they will be returned as insufficient funds and with penalties.! From your bank and the returner.,do it now.

If they have a judgment, they can attach any bank account that has you name on it, even if it's a joint account and all the funds belong to the other person.

no as long as your name is on the account, they can garnish your wages through paycheck, tax returns and accounts.
