Because this is for Feds to resolve. What happens under these new polices say if an illegal is drinking and driving are the police suppose to contact the feds advise them they have a problem ? What if a smuggler is encountered do the police apologize and tell the smuggler to carry on again this is, the feds...

Because they don't want the poor little illegal to be deported. That's why they want the local state police to stay away.

It is in the interest of every state to control illegal immigration by using the laws on the books provided by the federal government. When a state fails to do so, they are asking for trouble.

As for the drunk drivers, we now have a advocate In Kathleen Rice District Attorney of Nassau County, NY. She is going as far as prosecuting drunk drivers as murderers, and winning her cases. Now if we can just ramp this up across the country.

I believe you are talking about two different things. If a crime is committed in a city or a state, that city or state has jurisdiction to enforce the law. And they do enforce those laws. No one is saying illegal immigrants can do whatever they want because they are illegal.

What some are saying is that because the illegal immigrants either entered the United States illegally or overstayed a temporary visa is that the Federal government is in charge of enforcing immigration laws. While there are some partnerships between police departments and the federal government, it is ultimately up to the federal government to enforce immigration law. The police is allowed to punish them when they commit a crime, they just can't deport them on their own.

The reason for this is that police departments often do not have enough information or enough training to even determine if an immigrant is illegal. This leads to racial profiling, and in some cases deporting U.S. citizens. Sounds outrageous, but it has happened several times.

It can all be answered in only one way. If a crime is committed by an illegal inside the jurisdiction of an state or municipal agency, then the crime is charged as an offense from the individual. However, the feds can come check on the county jail and take the illegal depending upon they're decision to take custody of the person or not.

A bank robbery has nothing to do with a person's immigration status. So now that you think about an illegal robbing a bank, you want the Police there instead of chasing down taco vendors? Which one is it? because there's usually not enough cops to balance both illegal immigration chasing and real crime stopping! Please re-think this and make up your mind.

Violent crime?
Or Illegal Immigration?

WOW! six thumbs down! and I'm the only one. Did you log into your other accounts just to give my answer thumbsdown and forgot to give your buddies thumbsup? LOL.

I have never heard any advocates saying this; perhaps you could provide us with a link so we can know what you're talking about?

It is a federal crime to rob any national bank or state member bank.
