I had a screw up with Provident (now M&T) when I lost my job three years ago, and was out of work for a year. The account has been closed and I have a balance with M&T. I have just started back to work, but the problem is I need to start being able to bank somewhere to be able to have the ability to pay bills and...

I'm pretty sure those banks in walmarts don't do many security checks. At the very least I know they offer some sort of second chance account.

I belong Md's SECU, however you have to be a state employee or a dependent of one. If your spouse or possibly a relative is a member, go apply. They don't look into credit. They just offer lower rates than other banks on loans and I've found that you don't need a set amount in your checking in order to keep it, unlike other banks.
