You are very lucky its only your acct that was closed and they didnt bring criminal fraud charges against you. No judge or jury is going to believe that you thought this was real, that some university you are not a student at just sent you almost $3000. Or that you didnt even bother to check with friends to see if they sent you money

Just out of the blue you got a check for $2850 and thought this was legit? Really? Someone would just hand you nearly $3000 for no reason? I used to work for the fraud department for a large bank in New England and we used to hear excuses like yours all the time. I find it tough to have any sympathy for you. if BoA decided to close your account there isn't much you can do. They operate a business and suspect you are trying to commit fraud against them. If I were in their shoes, I would have closed your account as well. It will go on your record and if I were you, I'd try to open an account somewhere else. Good luck though because a simple back ground check will reveal what you've done when you try to open another account.
