Do student cards count as valid bank account identification?

Share |

I want to create a free bank account but I am only fifteen years old and my mom won't give me my birth certificate or passport as forms of identification. BMO accepts: "Canadian University or College Student ID Card, bearing your name, photograph, student reference number and a bar code"...

I don't think so, but you can always just call and ask.

To open a bank account, one usually has to 1) do it with a parent, or 2) be at least 18 years old (19 in some parts of Canada).

Since you are only 15, you probably can't do this on your own.
Notice how it said "College/University ID" instead of "School ID"? This is in reference to age restrictions.
