If you fly into Miami, Los Angeles or another city where there are large hispanic populations, there's an excellent chance that you'll speak to someone who speaks Spanish, and a percentage of them will be able to read Spanish.

The native born Spanish speakers will be able to read Spanish, but the ones who grew up in a household where Spanish was spoken all the time sometimes cannot read Spanish.

Back in the days (before March 2003) of INS, Spanish was a requirement for graduation from the Academy, but since the creation of Customs & Border Protection, the Spanish program has been reduced to only a few officers from specific ports of entry.

Obviously, if you fly into Puerto Rico, you'll have no trouble finding literate Spanish speakers.

No te preocupes si llegas en Miami, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York o San Francisco.

EDIT: There is no vaccination requirement for visitors.

¡A proposito, de nada!
