Can we trust these people to have a say on the bank bailout?

Do we need some investigation into the Fannie Mae/Freddy Mac and mortgage/bank bailout before paying 700 billion because of these politicians' connections? http://businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080924145932.aspx reports "Prominent Democrats ran Fannie Mae, the same government-sponsored enterprise (GSE)...

Sadly, NONE of these people can be trusted, as they put us here in the first place

NO! What a very well question you wrote. This is sickening. Those people all involved need to be punished. First freeze their bank accounts and make them fork the money. But then, Some of our wonderful elected Senate, Congress etc have dipped in the money themselves. Think of all the pork that the Senate has put in their little packages. Fanny Mae and Freedie Mac has been crooks from the beginning. I don't know what else to say. I have been pissed the last few days. No bail out! If so, make it easy on us. The Citizens. Give us a break on property taxes, income taxes. We have to eat crap, while the Government and their hired buddies live high on the hog. Obama, had his hands in this too.

I am a retired Police Officer with 30 years service. The C.E.O's of Mac and Mae have committed fraud at the least and embezzlement for sure in my opinion. I have seen people that defrauded banks and the government for a lot less get lengthy jail time. The members of Congress that allowed these people to "cook the books" for personal financial gain are co-conspirators. This is nothing more than a criminal enterprise and we should not just voice our out rage at Congress but should be demanding the Justice Department investigate and indict. No incumbents should be allowed to darken the Halls of Congress again. This is what happens when Goverenment gets involved in the markets.

You are EXACTLY right!

What "we the people" really want is a thorough investigation of those in Congress who had ANYTHING to do with this and ALL of the executives at these organizations (the Macs, the banks, and the underwriters) who allowed unsecured loans to be made, and for there to be massive arrests and confiscation of assets BEFORE a single dime is paid to bail anyone out.

Essentially, we want to see la Guillotine put to use FIRST.

The market can collapse meanwhile. We're ready for it. It will weed out the weak and make everyone appreciate what they have just a little bit more, which is a good thing and we're way overdue for it.

We will rebuild it afterwards. We're resiliant.

But really, arrests need to be made. And a huge chunk of the Congressional "leadership" now in charge actually needs to be investigated AND ARRESTED for their involvement in this scandal.

But they won't. They are crooks are they are getting away with it, and they are helping their elite crooked buddies in the Macs and banks and underwriters get away with it too.

The people will know what to do about it in November. We have another means of dealing with these crooks.

I don't know, but with 1.2 trillion lost today in the market, the 700 billion dollar bailout now seems like a bargain.
