Your old bank is very unlikely to cash it for you.
You have a couple of options:
--One is to go to the bank that's noted on the check, together with a lot of identification. In theory, they should be willing to cash it for you.
--Another option is to go to a check cashing place. They may be willing to cash it for you, but they will take a good chunk out of it for their own profit.
if possible...it's best to just go to the bank the check is made out to. your old bank probably will not cash it since you don't have an account there. if not...guess you'll go to a check cashing place and pay a small fee. Good Luck :-)
Get another account (I assume it was checking) if possible. I like Chase.
take the check and 27 forms of photo ID to the bank against which it is drawn.

open a new bank acct or if yours was closed because of unpaid overdraft fees, you better pay them or you won;t be able to open another bank acct for 7 yrs
ypu MIGHT be able to cash it at the bank it was drawn on (the payor's bank)
