Best banks in Denver area?

Share |

I recently moved to the Denver area and am looking for a good bank but there are so many! I am 20 years old and know little about banking but I would like a savings and a checking account. Preferably a savings that adds interest? Does anyone know of any good banks around here? If not, what sort of things should I...

Seriously consider joining a credit union instead of a bank. Credit unions are just as good or even better than most banks. Banks have a bad rep since they've raised interest rates, fees, charge an annual fee for a plus checking account, and generally have a bad attitude towards regular folks. With a credit union, you can open a checking and savings, get reward points, a better rate on your savings, higher earnings on CD's, and use your debit card at most any ATM in the area and get a refund for any fees that the BANK charges to use their ATM's. Most credit unions are also full-service online, just like banks. All for NO CHARGE!

No matter where you shop, you should always ask if there's a fee for any of their services. Ask about free money too...some credit unions will give you $50 or $100 just for signing up.

There's a bunch of credit unions in the Denver area. Just do a search on Google and see if you can fit into one.

Here's a few that you can join. They are open to most or all of the residents of the Denver area...

FirstBank is a Colorado based bank. Their ATMs are plentiful. They have pretty average interest rates and hours, etc. However, their customer service is exceptional. They've always been super helpful, secure, and friendly. Check their website. I've been very pleased, and even when I see places with better rates, I keep coming back to them for the ease and efficiency.

I second the Credit Union suggestion. I have been a proud member of Credit Unions for more than 20 years. See if your place of employment is already affiliated with a Credit Union, many are. If not find a member of the Credit Union Association so you will be able to use member Credit Unions all over the state.

Credit unions are closed. They are only offered to the people who work for certain companies. For instance, Sooper Credit Union is for the people who work for King Soopers/Kroger supermarkets.

There's one for schools. One for police. Belco is for its members. You don't just walk into a credit union and open an account. That's the POINT of one.

Look at SAVINGS BANKS.

I bank at First...I like them. Have been with them for many years.
