Bank of America and Chase have branches in both states but not all over both states. For example, Chase has a lot of presence in Eastern PA but almost nothing in west or central PA.
Depending on your banking needs, you might want to look into credit union shared branching. If you have an account at a participating credit union, you can use a branch of any other participating credit union for deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and to cash checks. Very convenient. They even have an app you can use to search for the closest participating branch. Just in my own city, my credit union has 5 branches of their own but with shared branching, it's like having 30 branches available to me. Chances are you'll pay a lot less in fees at a credit union than if you use a megabank!
i think Bank of America has banks in both locations.
I am more sure about California than i am about Pennsylvania.
