Banks in York, ME

give commerce bank a try.
they have lots of locations. open 7 days a week and until late. they open at 7am and close at 7pm which most banks dont. plus on sundays from 11am to 4pm. they were even open on memorial day when most banks were closed. they also have free checking and friendly staff
free checking is when you dont get charged fee. like some banks want you to keep a minimum in your account.
citibank and chase close pretty early. these are huge commerical banks. you can also try hsbc, emigrant savings bank, capital one bank and washington mutual

I would check with your school, a lot of banks have promo's for free checking for students.

Free checking means they do not charge a monthly fee or service fees. I think Chase offers Free checking, plus they have a lot of ATM's around, which is important so you don't get charged when you withdraw money.

From what I hear, citi has a lot of hidden charges.

I have had accounts with Chase for many years and I have never had a bad experience with them. I also take advantage of their free checking (with direct deposit from work). They have many ATMs through-out the city and in most Duane Reade stores so I know that I'm safe if I'm low on cash which is a big +.
