You can get cash from your US account in any ATM machine using your debit card, but it will give you local currency, which works for most practical purposes. The exchange rate you get this way is usually very good, and the good thing is, most ATMs don't charge a withdrawal fee from foreign accounts.

Some banks (Citibank in particular, from what I remember) also offer a choice to give you dollars, but I wouldn't count on that.

Other than ATM withdrawals, affiliates of international banks overseas are completely useless as far US accounts are concerned, according to my own experience. They don't have any access to US consumer banking there, even if the bank name is the same.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip.

There are affiliates of american banks and banks with us capital. Among them GE, Fortis and so on.

but for the withdrawal - It depends on the type of credit card that you are using (master card, maestro etc), write me the type and I will check for you possibilities.
