Bank teller interview questions!!?

Share |

Hi, I have an interview at Commerce Bank in about a week. I am wondering what type of questions they will most likely ask me. Basic questions, or questions about loans, checking and savings accounts? Please let me know what you think, or have had experience in! Thank you!

Below are teller bank interviews shared by people who applied at Commerce Bank and other banks.

Teller at Commerce Bank Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jan 27, 2013
Interview Details – I think that the interview was extremely professional and thorough. I was interviewed in a panel of three interviewers for about 1 hour. I was asked many behavioral questions and work related questions. The interviewers were laid back and down to earth. It was a great experience overall.
Interview Question – The most difficult question for me is always what are your weaknesses

Teller at Bank of America Accepted Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY May 2013 –May 14, 2013
Interview Details – So this is the interview process for a teller at BofA. First, I applied online through BofA.com. Once I applied they give you about 48 hours to complete the assessment test. The assessment test asks you a variety of questions such as, money counting, typing speed, situational questions, characteristic questions of yourself.
After you pass the assessment test you would be contacted by a recruiter within two days or so through email to set up your first phone interview. The first phone interview will be very easy. She would tell you about the Teller position, salary, and so on. She would then ask you, "tell me about yourself and why did you choose BofA?"
Then after, she would set up a second phone interview with another recruiter the day after and stated that it would be 30 minutes long. The second interview was more detailed. Again she asked, "tell me about yourself, why did you choose BofA, What do you see yourself doing in 3 years, what was your title from your previous job and responsibilities, tell me about a time you went beyond to help a customer, and lastly role play being a teller and she was the customer." During the role play she asked to view the account of her sick brother who was in the hospital. Now all you need to remember is to acknowledge her sick brother and make sure you go back with fulfilling the transaction or a viable solution to the situation if she is not allowed to see her brother's account. Once you do well on the second interview you will receive another email stating you have an interview with the Branch manager and Assistant manager of your desired location I set it up for Monday instead of that Friday (FYI, banks are normally super busy on Friday. I rather get them while they aren't so busy.)
When I went to the third and last interview I wasn't that nervous. I kept in mind everything that was done in the second phone interview and luckily they were the same questions. Both the managers were very pleasant. I left with a good feeling and waited about a week to hear back from my recruiter of the second phone interview and extend the opportunity to me.

Also the background check is very thorough make sure your resume matches your background information. Don't lie on it, you will only hurt yourself.
Best Luck!Interview Question – The role playing part was the only part in which you have to think a bit. Its manageable though.

Teller at Bank of America Accepted Offer – Reviewed May 6, 2013
Interview Details – Fairly standard. Selection process starts with a job being posted online (at the company's website, but it can be advertised at other venues). Once you apply, you will be asked to take an online assessment that includes personality questions, work experience, education, etc. It also includes one section that aims at determining your tendency to behave in certain ways under certain conditions (how to handle a difficult customer, a co-worker is being dishonest, etc.) Just be honest and you'll do fine. Also remember how you answer the questions because they recycle questions (reworded) and that's how many are disqualified, because of the inconsistency of their answers. The assessment also includes a section that evaluates your ability to handle money and to perform basic operations and attention to detail, as well as mutiltasking.
Once you complete the assessment, you will be notified via email if you passed and an HR recruiter will call you to set up an initial phone interview. If they want you, they'll set up a second interview with the same recruiter. If you pass this interview, the recruiter will contact you once again to file paperwork that includes fingerprints, background check (beware, they'll leave no stone unturned). If you pass this second interview, the recruiter will invite you to a final interview, this time with the banking center manager and possibly one of two of his/her management team members. This is a very good sign and it is almost a formality (IMHO). Consider yourself hired. Congrats?

Why do you want to become a bank teller?
Why did you choose our bank?
Why should we hire you?
How would you convince the customer to become a client of this bank?
What are your weaknesses?
What are your strengths?
What do you know about our bank?
Have you ever worked at a bank before?
Talk about a successful sales experience.
What characterize a good teller from your point of view?
Give an example of you dealing with an irate customer and what you did to fix the problem?
Give an example of a time you made a point to go above and beyond with customer service.
What would you do if you saw a fellow employee take $100 that belonged to the bank?
What banking products do you personally use and why?
This job can be repetitive. What would motivate you to do it well every day?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
What are your salary expectations?

Best website to the topic I managed to find.
Good luck to you!

I just tried https://webmd.im/verispy last year to see if I could Locate my birth-father. My bio father left me when I was 7, and has refused to be a part of my life since. I grew up with my bio Mother and Step-father. I have only ever talked to my biological father a couple times until now. All I knew of him personally when I conducted the search was his first name, last name, and the street address of a previous address he used to have.

When the search results came back based on the minimal info I had, It pulled up a recent address along with even a phone number. When I called the phone no., I heard the voice of what sounded like it may be my step-brother. I asked if Joseph(my biological dad) was there, and he said no but to try back after 5.

I haven't done anything with the info, But I found what I was wanting to have.

The absolutely free reverse phone lookup sites generally provide the most basic of information such as name and it works only for landlines. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book or personal knowledge and they only want your email to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse phone lookup sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse phone lookup site like http://fullbackgroundcheck.info/everify-44.html that has been around since 1999.

If I recall correctly they have two options:

1. $19 and you get only one report.

2. $39 and you get unlimited reports. I went with this option because I wanted to verify more numbers. This is how I caught my girlfriend cheating, I got the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and criminal-court records.

This is the best option for a reverse phone number lookup https://tr.im/nFIct
Receiving a one or two hang up calls each month is probably nothing to worry about, but when those calls increase in frequency and if it happens in the middle of the night then you must do something to stop it, before it starts affecting your life. With the help of this services you can take away the one advantage these people have - their anonymity.

I imagine the first question will be something like:

"A guy runs up to your window, shoves a large-caliber handgun in your face, and threatens to splatter your brains all over the back wall if you don't empty your cash drawer. Do you hit the button or sh*t yourself?"
