Bank of America is large and getting larger. And over time, if they follow most banks - will begin pushing the 'little people' by the wayside.
Washington Mutual, is newer, younger, currently building their client base.
Most people are going to WaMu for the free checking, and the not so stoic ambiance and customer service.
I am with them (WaMu)
Make sure they have brick & mortars in your local area too.
I have a friend who is a WaMu customer in Michigan. They don't have brick & mortars there (at least not in Detroit) So any deposits he makes, he has to send them in to the home office.
I think even with that hassle he still prefers them to Bank of America.
I use Washington Mutuals Free Checking. I have never had any problems or complaints about them. I have never tried Bank of America so I dont know which is better.
I personally use Washington Mutual because of their free checking account.
Bank of America has too many hidden fees.
We had issues with Bank of America. We deposited a check, and after one week and it showing as cleared in our account, I sent out bills. A few days past, I checked our balance and Bank of America had withdrawn the funds telling us that there was "something fishy" with the check. It was my husbands paycheck, nothing had changed with the company or the checks for over 2 years. We bounced many checks and had over $600 in fee's. After much aggravation, they waived the fee's. Once they discovered that we planned to close the account after this ordeal, they changed their mind about waiving the fee's. It was ridiculous. I wouldn't suggest them to my worst enemy.
Washington mutual..no fees for checks or ATM use.
both are same when u have little money no comparisons at all if u dont have money otherwise Bank of America any time.
Defiantly Bank of America they have a lot more options...
Definitely WaMu. B.O.A. bullshits too much with their customers.
