Banks in Topeka, IN

It depends on a number of things, such as the business scope of the bank, where it is located, what the VP is in charge of, etc etc.
What you might consider a '"big bank" depends on your frame of reference. The biggest bank in Topeka, Kansas might be tiny when compared to banks in New York, Tokyo, or London. This difference in the scale of business (global vs. primarily local) may lead to big disparities in compensation at the VP level.
If you manage to get a job at a big, global bank or securities firm, a lot of your compensation will depend on what you're in charge of. In other words, a VP on the trading desk will make a LOT more than VP in charge of operations.

So what's the answer to your question?
Probably somewhere in the range of $75,000 - $1,000,000 depending on where you work and what you do. If you need a narrower range, something in the low 6 figures (100k - 300k) should be about right.

Some companies pass a vice-president title around pretty freely. I think you would do better if you defined exactly what the person did, i.e., are they a branch manager or are they the second in command to the president? There is a website salary.com. In the "salary wizard" click on "all titles." That will allow you to select the industry "banking" and enter a location (zip code). You will then be able to view 394 job positions at the bank, none of which is a vice president. However, I think you will find the information you seek.

You can use their salary calculator for free.

Probably a good salary(around $50k a year), but until I know he has to be a mean s.o.b. due to the nature of his responsibilities. Suggestion: keep away from him, unless you have to report to the same(him).
