Commerce bank, Citizens Bank, Wachovia, all have many convenient branches.
They're all easy to deal with.

Commerce, PNC, and Citizens Banks all have a reputation for quality, low fees, and convenient hours. I have found Commerce staff to be especially helpful. Their culture of good service comes across better than I've experienced at other banks.

I like Commerce because there are many locations in Southeastern PA and in South Jersey, plus they have long operation hours. They offer free checking the first year (a $100 minimum balance thereafter) and a free VISA check card. As of this month, there are no ATM fees at any machine. Also, their notary services are free.

I suggested three banks because, as in many other urban areas, the best bank may depend on where you live in the city or suburbs. Unfortunately, there are a growing number of Philadelphia neighborhoods where bank choices are becoming scarcer.

Kenny,

I like citizens because it's also in DE - and NJ (two states I am always in in the summer).
